Urine samples of 24 patients suffering from different proteinuric diseases were analyzed with respect to the molecular weight of their protein components using sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). Glomerular, mixed and tubular patterns were identifiable and Bence-Jones proteinuria was also detectable according to the molecular size of light chains. The SDS-PAGE has been shown to be useful for molecular size separation of urinary proteins. A routine method of SDS-PAGE we used is described.
